Thunderstruck is a comic book store near Spadina Station filled to the brim with comics, art books, action figures, pop vinyl, trading cards (Pokeman and Magic the Gathering), and graphic novels.
They still implement a strict mask policy (provided upon entry if you don’t have one) and a 15-person capacity due to limited spacing. New weekly comics are showcased on the shelves near the front, whilst a narrow path around the perimeter allows you to take in the tightly packed manga and pop vinyl merchandising. With popcorn ceilings, fluorescent lighting, and cardboard boxes littering the floor, the interior is less form, more function. I’m not particularly well-versed in the comic book scene, but I did enjoy flipping through the Disney and Harry Potter art books and the Sailor Moon action figurines reminded me of my childhood (“I am Sailor Moon, champion of justice! On behalf of the moon, I will right wrongs and triumph over evil, and that means you!”)
