#21. A Good Read

๐Ÿ“š A GOOD READ

๐Ÿ“ LOCATION: 341 Roncesvalles Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

๐Ÿ•ฐ HOURS:

  • Mon-Sun: 11am-7pm

๐Ÿ“ฒ SOCIAL LINKS:

A Good Read opened in Torontoโ€™s Roncesvalles Village in 2007 and is the go-to spot for signed first editions, rare, and collectible books.

As soon as you enter, youโ€™ll note a full shelf of the pristine Penguin Clothbound Classics to your left (I couldnโ€™t help but pick up a copy of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn to add to my collection) and a childrenโ€™s book section to your right.

New releases are closer to the front of the bookstore, while the used section takes up the bulk of the middle (including banned books, clearance, and merch). Thereโ€™s a sign delineating the rare book room at the back, which requests that you leave all bags at the front before entering.

I was thoroughly impressed with their beautiful antiquarian book collection (I wish I could fill an entire home library with those bold leather-bound spines!) and all of their signed first editions. Lots of art, architecture, and coffee table books, too.

A Good Read is also EXTREMELY dog-friendly, so bring your pooch to peruse ~ they just might be featured on their Instagram page, which is filled with portraits of neighbourhood pups.
