I had to start my Toronto Bookshop Bucket List pilgrimage at BMV Books in The Annex, my former local haunt (I used to live up the street!) Its iconic neon signage and robin’s egg blue exterior make it an unmissable neighbourhood gem.

BMV Books opened its first location in 1997, and now has three locations across the city, but the Annex (which opened in 2005) claims the title of Canada’s largest second hand bookshop boasting over four floors, 15,000 sq. ft., of books.

They sell preloved novels as well as a selection of new release titles, all at steeply discounted prices — and a unique mix of DVDs, Blu-rays, vinyl records, CDs, magazines, comic books, graphic novels, board games, action figures, and other collectibles, including their own line of exclusively designed merchandise. The basement floor is where you’ll find movies & music, while the other three floors are dedicated to books.

BMV Books also buys books for cash (donating what they can’t sell). There are over 1000 new items being shelved everyday, which makes every visit to BMV Books a unique experience.
